Royal Wedding

The girls here at Bridal Collections are so excited about the Royal Wedding coming up this week! We're anxiously awaiting all the surprise details. The gown (of course), the bridesmaid attire, the flowers, the cake, everything!

We've all been brainstorming for fun ways to celebrate the big day. It may not be our big day, but afterall, when will it happen again?
First off, you could sport the new classic "It should have been me" t-shirt. This phrase, apparently, has become very popular in England.
Found via Etsy.

We adore the idea of getting your gals together (maybe a good bridesmaid/bride bonding time) and having a tea party. Decorate with red and blue bunting. Sip your tea with your best china. Serve crumpets, tea cakes and scones. Anything British goes!

Also, absolutely loving this inspiration board!

And of course, above all, Keep Calm and Watch the Wedding!

Dessy's Twist Dress

Have you seen Dessy's twist dress? This dress is absolutely amazing! It can be converted into literally endless possibilities. This dress is perfect for every bridesmaid. It's so flattering on every body (because it can turn into any dress), and is a dress that can actually be worn again, not to mention- super comfortable! If you can't get your girls to agree on a dress I would wholeheartedly recommend this gown. We're head over heels for this dress!

Employee Interview

For today’s employee interview we’ll be asking Amanda her recommendations for an earthy, bohemian bride.

What are your gown style recommendations for a boho bride?
Fabric will be a key element in your design choice. I recommend silk shantung, chiffon, or a matte taffeta. Those materials will give your gown a much more organic look and feel. Gowns with ruffles or a lot of texture will also help give you a unique feel. I love this Mori Lee taffeta gown… so much fun!

How can a bohemian bride accessorize her look in a unique way?
Avoid traditional, like a long veil. Instead, wear a birdcage, or a short shoulder length veil. Put flowers in your hair. One to the side or a fresh floral headband. Wear funky and trendy jewelry. And throw on an awesome colored shoe! Or be barefoot if your outdoors.
These headpieces we carry would be great!

What color schemes would be great for a natural wedding?
Try choosing a color palette, rather than one or two very tone specific colors. Or choose one color and stick with any shade derived from that tone. Dessy makes some stunning bridesmaids gowns that are a little less traditional. Like this one. Style #2829

What other things can a bride do to help make the entire theme of her wedding cohesive as a bohemian fete?
Try incorporating eco friendly products throughout your wedding and help make your guests aware. Use natural textures and elements all throughout. Have branches and curly willow accent your bouquets, using natural wood, rather than painted (for chairs, tables, etc.).  Serve cupcakes, rather than cake.

What should the guys wear?
Does your man have style of his own? Chances are, he does. So ask him what he’d like to wear. The day is about him, too. Have the guys wear patterned, or skinny ties or bow ties. Suspenders, vests, sweaters and hats are great ways to give your men a little added flair. If you still want your affair to be formal, have the men wear a gray tux with a skinny lapel.

Employee Interview

Today we're doing an interview with one of our very own Bridal Collections employees. For today we will be interviewing Sarah. She will be giving us tips for a bride that wants to add a retro rocker style to her wedding.

What are your top 3 dress choices for a retro bride?

I love these three dresses!
Maggie Sottero’s Isadora Ann, Mikaela's 1551 bad Mori Lee's 2505 (as pictured below).

What are some color schemes for bridesmaids for a retro themed wedding?

"I would just think anything bright and bold. Saturated colors. Of course red, black and white would be classic. Something trendy, though, would be peacock toned colors.  Angelina Faccenda’s Wisteria, jade, Mediterranean would look awesome together!"

How can a retro bride accessorize her look to make her look more unique?

"She can accessorize with a large flower in her hair, or a birdcage veil.  Accessorize with pops of color and any accents of feathers…  boas, wrist gloves, stoles. Or to be really crazy, throw on a pair of chucks!"

Appointment Information

So we thought it would be a helpful to give you a little more detailed information about our appointments here at Bridal Collections. Today I interviewed Cynthia, who has worked at Bridal Collections for 13 years, about our appointments. Here's what Cynthia has to say...

Do I need an appointment?
"An appointment is recommended, especially for Saturdays, but not required.  There may be a bit of a wait without an appointment. "

What does an appointment look like?

"We set aside two hours to work one on one with you. Your consultant will help you try on gowns. They will also help you find gowns that are among the styles you are drawn to, as well as in your price point."

What should I bring to my appointment?
"Your closest confidant and an open mind."

Is there anything I should do to prepare?
"Bring a few photos or an idea of how you want to look on your wedding day. This will help us find your perfect bridal fashion."

Can I bring my people with me to my appointment?
"Of course! However, be prepared to hear lots of opinions from your party. It may be easier to start the process with one or two people so your own voice can be heard."

I have no idea what kind of dress I want! What do I do?
"Try a variety of styles. Gowns speak to you. Let your consultant and your heart guide you."

My budget for my dress is nothing like what I see on shows like “Say Yes to the Dress.” Is that even realistic?
"We have gowns to fit every budget. Let your consultant know where you feel comfortable.  We will strive to find you a perfect gown at the perfect price."
